Today, Elena Țîbîrnă, General Director of the National Office of Social Insurance, hosted a delegation from the International Labour Organization, which was composed of Markus Ruck, social protection specialist at the ILO Office for Central and Eastern Europe, and Maria Jose Chamorro, a specialist in gender equality and formalization from the same regional office.
Discussions focused on strengthening social protection for care workers, with an emphasis on the need to ensure access to social benefits, promote decent work, and formalize labor relations in this sector.
During the meeting, the need to create an inter-institutional working group was discussed, with the participation of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, National Office of Social Insurance, National Health Insurance Company and the State Tax Service, in order to develop an effective mechanism for applying the provisions of the Labor Code regarding the conclusion of individual employment contracts between two individuals.
This initiative aims to clearly regulate labor relations in the care sector, increase the degree of formalization, and ensure social protection for persons involved in such activities.
