NOSI marks 25 years of activity, developments in the social system were discussed at a national conference
On Monday, February 16, the National Office of Social Insurance (NOSI) organized a national conference to discuss developments in the social system, the digitization of services, and the strengthening of family protection measures. The event was organized to mark 25 years of the institution's activity since its founding.
In her opening remarks, NOSI's General Director Elena Țîbîrnă emphasized that for 25 years, the institution has been administering the country's most important system - the Public Social Insurance System, which provides pensions, indemnities and allowances, ensuring social protection for citizens.
"NOSI's story begins in 2001, when the government decided to merge the institutions responsible for this area into a single authority. This is how NOSI was born, an institution created to bring order, legality and transparency to a system that is essential for the country's social security. For 25 years, we have been managing the country's most important system - the Public Social Insurance System, which provides pensions, indemnities and allowances, ensuring social protection for citizens. The institution manages one of the largest budgets in the country, worth over 49 billion lei this year. Over the years, NOSI has proven to be a strong institution, capable of facing the challenges of the times and adapting to each stage of development. We have constantly focused on modernization, on efficient and digitized administrative processes, so that our work is simpler and more transparent for citizens," said Elena Țîbîrnă.
The event was attended by the Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, who praised the professionalism of the more than 1,000 employees across the country. The official noted that their work brings social policies to life and keeps a system functioning on which hundreds of thousands of people depend - pensioners, families with children and people in vulnerable situations.
"It has been a quarter of a century in which the social protection system has been consolidated, modernized and brought closer to the people. Behind every decision and every service are people who need not only financial support, but also empathy, goodwill and respect. Your work contributes to social security, support for families and protection for people in vulnerable situations. Social protection is not just about procedures, but also about the connection between citizens and the state. Your work contributes to the implementation of social policies and the smooth functioning of the system. On behalf of the Government, I would like to thank you for your professionalism, dedication and responsibility," said Alexandru Munteanu.
The Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Natalia Plugaru emphasized that, over the course of 25 years, NOSI has become an important pillar of the social protection system.
"Behind every file there are people and life stories. From the beginning of life to retirement age, the services provided are essential for citizens. Without your contribution, these results would not have been possible. Today's anniversary is about the professionals who, through their work and dedication, have built and strengthened this institution. I thank all employees, past and present, for their constant efforts to make the system more efficient, more transparent and closer to the people. Over the past 25 years, important reforms, modernization and digitization processes, as well as adaptations to new social and technological realities have been carried out," noted Natalia Plugaru.
The National Office of Social Insurance was founded in 2001. The institution's mission is to implement the state's social policies, aimed at guaranteeing the social rights of citizens, by administering the public social insurance system and managing the state social insurance budget.
