The main functions of the Directorate are:

1. Coordination of the European integration activities at the level of the National Office of Social Insurance; 
2. Organization and coordination the process of negotiation, endorsement, and signing of international agreements in the field of social security, including administrative arrangements and cooperation protocols between the National Office of Social Insurance and social insurance institutions in other countries; 
3. Ensuring the promotion and maintenance of the institutional image of the National Office of Social Insurance at the national and international levels ; 
4. Developing and monitoring cooperation relations with international organizations and counterpart institutions from other states, in order to participate in community and regional projects and programs, as well as to adopt best practices in the field of social security; 
5. Providing support and assistance to members of the National Office of Social Insurance`s delegations during official missions abroad, including in exceptional situations; 
6. Coordination and implementation of the state policy in the field of relations with the diaspora.
