The indexation applies to: old-age, disability, and survivor’s pensions; work-length pensions; pensions for civil servants, customs officials, and judges; capitalized periodic/monthly payments; disability indemnities; monthly pensions and monetary compensation established for citizens who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl disaster; pensions for military personnel and members of the command corps and troops of the internal affairs agencies and the General Inspectorate of the Carabinieri; allowances for the dependents of medical personnel who died while performing medical duties in the fight against COVID-19.
As of April 1, 2026, the minimum pension amount is:
· for old-age pensions with a full contribution period (at least 34 years) – 3,264.66 lei,
· for old-age pensions with a contribution period exceeding 40 years – 3,525.72 lei,
· for severe disability – 2,448.50 lei,
· for significant disability – 2,285.26 lei,
· for moderate disability – 1,632.33 lei.
The amount of pensions calculated in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 156/1998 on the public pension system will be increased, effective April 1, 2026, by a fixed amount of 51.33 lei.
In the context of the increase in the minimum pension effective April 1, 2026, the state social allowances received by certain categories of persons are also recalculated.
Effective April 1, 2026, the monthly state allowances established under Law No. 317/2024 for war veterans are indexed by 6.84%.
The process of indexing pensions and monthly state allowances for war veterans and increasing the allowances is carried out by the National Social Insurance House ex officio, without citizens having to submit applications.
Thus, starting April 1, citizens will be able to receive higher social insurance benefits. The funds will be transferred to the beneficiaries’ social cards, into the account where they receive their pension and allowance. Individuals who do not have a social card can collect the funds at any post office in the country.
